Introduction to ControlWORQ - Overview

ControlWORQ is a web based consolidation application built on top of IBM Cognos Planning Analytics. It allows balanced journal entries to be posted so as to update values in Planning Analytics cubes. The journal entries are logged in a secure, relational database from which journal reports can be produced.

It can automatically post inter-company elimination entries as well. These entries are logged, like regular journal entries, in a secure, relational database from which journal reports can be produced.

ControlWORQ is designed to work with any financial application built in Planning Analytics. After it has been installed, a Planning Analytics administrator can configure it to work with one or more existing Planning Analytics cubes.

Key User Capabilities

Authorized end users have a safe, audited way of:

  1. Creating, Approving and Posting a new journal.
  2. Recurring an existing journal by retrieving and posting it again (e.g., to the next period).
  3. Reversing a previously posted journal.
  4. Batch operations Performing recurring and reversing operations on multiple journals simultaneously.

Flexible Integration

ControlWORQ integrates seamlessly with existing Planning Analytics applications without requiring changes to:

  • Existing cube structures
  • Dimension naming conventions
  • Current security models
  • Established business processes
